Orphaned references in Ptyonoprogne
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Ptyonoprogne's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "birdlife":
- From Dusky Crag Martin: "Species factsheet Hirundo concolor". BirdLife International. Retrieved 4 April 2010
- From Rock Martin: "Species factsheet Hirundo fuligula ". BirdLife International. Retrieved 11 April 2010
- From Eurasian Crag Martin: "Species factsheet Hirundo rupestris". BirdLife International. Retrieved 26 March 2010
Reference named "turner160":
- From Rock Martin: Turner (1989) pp. 160–163
- From Eurasian Crag Martin: Turner (1989) pp. 160–164
I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 13:39, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

GA Review

- Why is the article not titled "Crag martin"? (Presumably because that is also a common name for P. rupestris?)
- That's right, no big deal if you think it should be moved Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:42, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Well, for animals, if the common name is unambiguous and well-established, we generally should use it as the article title. Since the common name here is not unambiguous, it's probably not a very good idea. I can see it go either way. Ucucha 06:31, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

- Shouldn't the subfamily be in the taxobox?
- We don't normally put in subfamilies for birds, although some other projects do Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:42, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- The general rule is to use minor taxa like subfamily when they're directly above the taxon you're writing about (like subfamily when you're writing about a genus). No big problem if birds want to do it differently.

When was the genus first described? When were the species discovered? Also, the article on the Rock Martin actually has more information on the taxonomic status of the genus (saying that various other genera should be subsumed into Hirundo if this one is).
- All added Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:00, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
"In South Asia, migrant Eurasian birds sometimes join with flocks of the Dusky Crag Martin and roost communally on ledges of cliffs or buildings."—do they hybridize?
- added in winter to make it clear it's outside the breeding season. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:42, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
"Predators and parasites" shouldn't be under "Behavior" (I think I said the same in the review for the Rock Martin; I now notice that the article on the Eurasian Crag Martin has the same problem).
- Done, I'll check allthe article headings before I take this bunch to FT anyway. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:42, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
No other problems, and most of those I mentioned may not even fall under the GA criteria. Ucucha 07:55, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
The Rock Martin also has etymology for the genus name, missing here. Ucucha 07:57, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Many thanks for reviewing, I promise next time I'll start with the parasites separate! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:00, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. There are two things above that I didn't strike, but the article meets the GA criteria, so I'm passing it now. Ucucha 06:31, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks again, tell me there aren't any more rice rats to come???! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:33, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- All in due time; extinct Malagasy mammals need articles too. Ucucha 15:45, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
